METHIONINE PRODUCTION BASED ON RUSSIAN TECHNOLOGY
Sept. 11., 2019 ONH-Holding took part in the 6th Russian Refinery Summit - OIL & GAS REFINERY & PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY: STRATEGIES & TECHNOLOGIES, making its report on Methionine Technology, i.e. feed amino acid.
ONH-Holding shared its results over research activity carried out together with APPLIED CHEMISTRY (Russian Scientific Centre RSC) on Methionine Technology, i.e. a very high value-added product with high demand both in Russian and foreign markets for such application areas as cattle breeding, poultry breeding & fishery.
Methionine is a class of Sulphur-containing amino acids indispensable for birds & animals participating in protein, hormone, enzyme and vitamin biosynthesis. Due to its biological activity, methionine is widely used as amino acid-based feed & premixture additive for mass gaining and higher fertility in poultry, cattle breeding and recently in fish industry as well.
Methionine has high potential in domestic market as today Russian cattle industry uses feeding-stuff of much lower nutrition if compared to the developed countries but following the global trend the situation shows certain improve.
In 2018, Russian Scientific Centre APPLIED CHEMISTRY together with ONH-Holding started their activity over proprietary Methionine Technology. Following the request from ONH-Holding, the APPLIED CHEMISTRY performed General Process Solutions (GPS) based on scientific research rising from the eighties & nineties. Nowadays, the project has reached its next milestone – pilot testing of all GPS outcomes with subsequent design basis compilation for commercial engineering.
In case of successful commercialization, this Technology can be the following:
- good opportunity to replace import with domestic product still having high export potential
- good contribution for further growth of the leading Scientific Centre in terms of experience and equipment furnishing for future research
- high potential for sale and license abroad, first of all to the countries of South-East Asia & Latin America.
