Seminar for Personnel of Hydrogen Production of Orsknefteorgsintez PJSC
The experts from ONH-Holding have organized a seminar to discuss the basic and recent progress in the field of engineering, technology and catalysts for hydrogen production. The event occurred in Orsk between May 11 and 16, 2023, and was attended by the personnel of Workshops Nos. 2, 5 of PJSC Orsknefteorgsintez (JSC ForteInvest oil company).
The seminar featured the participation of Mr. Kouznetsov V.B., Deputy General Director for Strategic Development, Mr. Goncharuk S.N., Technical Director for Syngas Processes, and Mr. Grigoriev A.N., Director of the Technological Service Department. Mr. Kalashnikov B.G., the expert, presented a report on the technology of pressure-swing absorption (PSA).
During the seminar, the basic processes and technologies of synthesis gas production were discussed, as well as the theoretical bases of the steam reforming process, the current state of the process, catalysts used for hydrogen production, and methods of their loading.
A separate presentation was devoted to the reformer tubes, specifically the advanced methods of their fabrication, utilized alloys and diagnostics. The concept of pressure-swing absorption (PSA) was a prominent topic in the reports. Moreover, the concerns pertaining to the decay of steam reformer catalyst were deliberated upon, specifically, the various types of catalyst poisons, the peculiarities of catalyst damage and its mechanism, as well as the loss of activity.
The report on the challenges faced with the operation of steam reformer heaters was of special interest to the attendants. The seminar also focused on discussing the practical lessons learned by other producers of hydrogen production, as well we the actual instances of operational disruptions, their causes and troubleshooting.
