Mr. Medvedev D. the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Mr.Minnikhanov R. the President of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the official ceremony of CDU/VDU-6 start-up at JSC Taneco Complex via videoconference.

CDU/VDU-6 construction began several years ago. Orgneftekhim-Holding Group of Companies as an EPC-Contractor was responsible for the unit construction, design works were performed by OOO INCO-TEK and OOO Orgneftekhimproekt, which are part of the ONH-Holding Group of Companies.

Thus, during the trial run the first oil products were obtained on 22.06.2019 and on 22.08.2019 Statement of constructed facility conformity was issued proving the conformity of CDU/VDU-6 to Technical Regulations and Design Documentation requirements including energy efficiency requirements.

CDU/VDU-6 start-up gives PJSC Tatneft the opportunity to double crude oil distillation capacity on the one hand and on the other  allows the company to be an owner of a unique unit having a number of unmatched advantages that fully in line with its strategic objectives.

One of the key benefit of the Unit is its equipment consisting of 100% Russian process equipment while almost all heat exchanging equipment was produced in the Republic of Tatarstan.  Another important point is the Technology that represents ONH-Holding technical solutions and typical design that had already been proven at other Projects, e.g. at Afipsky Refinery, and showed the maximum economic benefit for investors.

If we perform comparative cost analysis of CDU/VDU-6 implemented by Orgneftekhim-Holding Group of Companies to other Russian similar units, it will be in favor of the first one. In terms of values we will see an impressive reduction in the capital investments by using local equipment, proprietary engineering solutions that decrease specific quantity of metal per structure and equipment dimensions.

CDU/VDU-6 Unit benefits for PJSC Tatneft versus similar units:

  • 20 to 30% reduction in specific capital expenditures per ton of processed feedstock;
  • 35 to 45% reduction in fuel gas consumption;
  • 10 to 25 % reduction in heat energy consumption;
  • 10 to 25% reduction in the quantity of equipment used;
  • Multiple reduction in cooling water consumption that is relevant to existing units upgrade and new facilities construction in regions with severe water shortage.

Maximum efficiency in terms of target products output at primary crude oil distillation units is the key efficiency factor for a plant of any configuration complexity, since light oil products are recovered in this unit at a minimum processing cost.

PJSC Tatneft CDU/VDU-6 unit commissioned in Nizhnekamsk is an important typical facility for Orgneftekhim-Holding Group of Companies that may become in-demand in extensive Plants’ technical revamp processes where equipment operation life extension may be a challenge. The use of such typical projects engaging local equipment with a least investment component and maximum economic efficiency represents, in our opinion, one of the most important revamp vectors of existing production facilities in Russia and the near-abroad countries.
